3 things I learned about self love

“Self-care is never a selfish act — it is simply good stewardship of the only gift I have, the gift I was put on earth to offer to others.”

When loving ourselves, it’s easy to swing to either extreme. We might indulge in self-care activities, like bubble baths or Netflix binges, but then feel guilty for not being productive or disciplined enough. Or we might push ourselves relentlessly to achieve our goals but then neglect our basic needs and burn out.

Self-love should be a delicate balance between caring for ourselves and holding ourselves accountable.

Self-love is about recognizing your worth

It is about accepting your strengths and weaknesses and treating yourself with kindness and compassion. When you recognize your worth, you understand that you deserve to be treated with love and respect.

Self-love is about honoring your needs and boundaries and making choices that align with your values and goals

When we prioritize our well-being, we give ourselves permission to say no to things that don’t serve us and yes to things that do. This isn’t always easy, but it’s an essential part of self-care. When we honor our boundaries and make choices that align with our values, we create a foundation for a fulfilling and meaningful life. So don’t be afraid to take care of yourself and make choices that honor who you are. You are worthy of love and respect, and it starts with treating yourself as such.

Self-love is giving yourself time and space to rest, reflect, and grow

We live in a world that constantly demands our attention and energy, making it easy to forget that taking care of ourselves is an essential part of living a fulfilling life. Prioritize your well-being and allow ourselves to slow down and recharge. Create the space for personal growth. It’s not always easy, but when we make the conscious choice to love ourselves, we open up a world of possibility and potential.

Self-love is an ongoing process

It requires patience, practice, and commitment to your growth and well-being. So, take the time to nurture yourself in meaningful and sustainable ways.

And remember, you don’t have to indulge to love yourself — you have to honor yourself.
